Niddy Noddy & Umbrella Swift w/ Roy Underhill

Niddy-noddy, niddy-noddy, two heads - one body! It's wood for the weaver in this back to back yarn-o-topia!
On Saturday we'll make a niddy noddy based on one in the collection of Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Dated 1777, it's documented to have come from Deer Isle, Maine. Much like a bowsaw, it involves mortise & tenon work, lathe turning and shaping with a spokeshave.
On Sunday, we'll make a classic umbrella swift. This involves turning, drilling and boring, cutting wooden threads with screwbox and tap, as well as tying lots of wooden slats together with lots of little strings! The result is a fine umbrella swift to help you wind your wool.
Materials fee $25 each (or less) payable to instructor on the day of class. Sign up for one or both classes!
One day each $145
