Wooden Molding Plane w/ Bill Anderson
Make your choice of an American-style, side escapement molding plane using traditional tools and floats. We'll follow the pattern of Josiah King, a New York plane maker of the 1850s as we shape the molding profile with both the scratch stock and mother (and other) planes.
We'll cut and shape the blade for the plane at the Pittsboro school, and on the third morning visit the shop of renowned blacksmith Peter Ross, who will demonstrate hand forging a plane blade and assist us in hardening and tempering our blades. Back at the school, we'll sharpen and tune the plane for a lifetime of beautiful moldings!
Materials approximately $40.
